Our treatment may include education on return to school or sports, pacing and planning, visual and/or vestibular exercises and/or manual therapy.
Massage Therapy
Massage Therapists assess, treat and prevent muscle pain, tension and dysfunction to help maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function. Massage therapy has a therapeutic effect on the body and improves health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Massage can enhance performance in any sport or work environment.
Pedorthic Services
The pedorthist will provide a full biomechanical assessment of your lower body to determine if there is a need for orthotics or compression socks.
Kinesiology / Personal training
Personal Training is an excellent option for someone who likes a 1-on-1 approach to training or for people with variable schedules. Skyward’s highly qualified staff will personalize your workout to address your individual needs and goals.
We also offer semi-private training for those who like working with a partner or friend. Semi-private training is typically 2-4 people with one trainer. This type of training is more cost-effective than one on one training, as well as adding the additional benefits of competition and/or comradery.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists help people participate in their day-to-day activities. At Skyward, our occupational therapist focuses on clients recovering from concussions.
For people experiencing lingering symptoms post-concussion, occupational therapy can support these individuals with symptom management, lifestyle modifications, and cognitive rehabilitation. Therapists can also provide evidence-based guidance about safely increasing and returning to activities post-injury.
Occupational Therapy services are currently offered virtually. In-home assessments and treatment are offered on an as-needed basis.
Athletic Therapy
Athletic therapists are specialists in assessing acute sports injuries. In a private practice setting, they treat all orthopedic injuries, to help clients return to their activities or sports. Athletic therapists are also trained to assess and treat concussions.

Derek will teach open classes that may include a moderate level of physical activity, deep breathing and gentle stretches. There are always options and variations offered to suit all student levels!
Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic healing practice that involves applying pressure to specific
points on the feet to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. This ancient
therapeutic technique is based on the belief that these areas, known as reflex
points, correspond to different organs, glands, and systems throughout the body.
By applying targeted pressure to these points, Reflexologists aim to restore
balance and harmony within the body, promoting overall well-being.
The benefits of reflexology are numerous and can positively impact both physical
and mental health. One of the primary advantages is stress reduction. By targeting
and releasing tension in the reflex points, reflexology helps to relax the body and
mind, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm and relaxation. This, in turn,
can lead to improved sleep patterns, increased energy levels, and enhanced mood.
Psychotherapy/Mental Performance
Psychotherapy or “talk therapy” is a safe and effective treatment for various mental health challenges. It is commonly used to treat depression, anxiety, trauma and other mental health challenges. Often people seek therapy because they want to learn new ways to manage stress, anxiety or to overcome fears. Others want to improve their relationships, process grief, end obsessive thinking, gain control over addictive or destructive behaviours. The therapist-client relationship is both dynamic and collaborative in nature. Together we work on what the client wants to change.
Sound-Bath therapy is an exercise in deep listening. The powerful effects of sound and vibration stimulate your brain without you needing to “do anything.” Clients often report a positive release of emotion and physical tension. What’s wonderful about sound-bath therapy is: you don’t need any experience with mindfulness or meditation to experience its stress-reducing benefits. There is no wrong way to receive a sound bath. All you have to do is sit or lie down, settle into a comfortable position, close your eyes, and give yourself permission to take a time out. By bathing in the sound of the bowls, clients are better able to slow down and process the challenges of life.
Laura Notton is a registered social worker and psychotherapist. She provides both psychotherapy and sound bath therapy. You can book with her at https://lauranottontherapy.janeapp.com/
